Matt Hubbard, People Director, Lloyds Banking Group
Matt Hubbard is the People Director for the Commercial Banking division at Lloyds Banking Group, and a member of the Commercial Banking Executive Committee. Matt is a member of the Group’s People & Property Executive Committee. In January 2019 Matt was also appointed the Group’s Ambassador for the East of England, responsible for advocating the Group’s purpose in the region. He originally joined Lloyds in 2010.
Prior to joining Lloyds Matt worked in an executive search firm and has previously held global, regional and country HR leadership roles at Citi and Barclays in London, New York, Stockholm and Singapore. Before moving into the corporate sector Matt served as an Army Officer, from 1988 to 1995, in the Royal Artillery, which included operations in Cyprus (United Nations Peacekeeping), the Middle East (1st Gulf War) and three tours in Northern Ireland.
He has a Masters in Violence, Conflict and Development from SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies), University of London and an MBA from Cass Business School, London.
He is a Trustee of The Poppy Factory, which makes the remembrance poppies but also provide a nationwide employment service for former service people with physical and mental injuries. Matt is also a Trustee of YANA, the agricultural and rural business mental health charity serving Suffolk, Norfolk and Worcestershire. In 2018 Matt led Lloyds Banking Group’s signature fund raising expedition leading a group of colleagues walking part of the Great Wall of China in aid of Mental Health UK.
